Celtic fans mocked the Queen's death with a banner that read 'F*** The Crown' and chants of 'if you hate the royal family, clap your hands' last night - while Rangers defied Uefa's ban on British teams playing the national anthem. Scottish football is divided by sectarianism and many fans who follow Rangers identify themselves as Protestant and unionist, while many who support Celtic identify themselves as Catholic and Irish republicans. James McClean wore a black armband before Wigan's Championship clash with Huddersfield - but decided to stand away from his team-mates in an apparent gesture of defiance during the commemorative minute of silence for the Queen. There is stern policing; and there is idiotic policing. On Sunday afternoon, a history tutor living in Oxford called Symon Hill was handcuffed for shouting 'who elected him?' during the proclamation of King Charles III in the city. King Charles should pay inheritance tax on his late mother’s estate, campaigners said yesterday. Under rules signed in 1993, the Queen agreed to pay income and capital gains tax – but ‘sovereign-to-sovereign bequests’ are exempt from inheritance tax.Her late Majesty’s personal wealth, which included property, private investments and racehorses, was estimated to be around £370million.
