Charisma is defined in Psychology Today as the "ability to attract and influence other people." This ability can be used as a positive but it can also be used as a negative -- especially in the religious world. In fact, one of the most popular podcasts (see link below) in the Christian world today describes the rise and fall of the charismatic leader Mark Driscoll and his "church empire" Mars Hill in the Seattle area. However, is charisma a quality that Christians are called to pursue or a quality that we need to reach the world for Messiah Jesus? In fact, would Jesus Himself have been called a charismatic leader in His day?
