Jason Whitlock knows a thing or two about beef. His ongoing feud with ESPN’s leading man Stephen A. Smith continues to rage on, even after SAS vows never to address Whitlock again — again. Shannon Sharpe’s latest beef with comedian Mike Epps took a much more serious tone and escalated quickly when Epps made a not-so-subtle threat and challenged Shay Shay to hit him up at the NBA All-Star weekend in Indianapolis. Whitlock says it’s the product of ESPN and sports media embracing the “gangsta rap” lifestyle. Media members like Sharpe, Stephen A., Richard Sherman, and Matt Barnes, devoid of any upstanding character traits, resort to playing the role written for them by executives like ESPN’s Bob Iger. Iger takes his cues from Death Row Records' Suge Knight and carefully crafts the images of his black media stars to reflect the devolution of hip-hop in hopes of cashing in on rap’s omnipresence in American pop culture. Steve Kim joins “Fearless” to discuss sports media going gangsta and add his thoughts to the continued controversy over the “black national anthem.”
