×St Paul tells us that the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that they cannot see the Light of the Gospel. We have prayer as our weapon against this, so let us pray for those unbelievers.
Psalm 100 is a powerful call to praise as the psalmist invites all of creation to exalt the Lord in worship. Jesus, as creator of everything seen and unseen, deserves our highest praise. We need to learn that expressing gratitude comes from understanding God's sovereignty over all creation.
When Jesus started to teach His disciples a harder teaching, many of them walked away. Jesus asked the 12 disciples if they were going to leave to but Peter said 'Where shall we go?' as Jesus had the words of eternal life. You either believe this or you don't!
Jesus told the 72 as He sent them out that some will listen and others won't. This will also be the same for us today and for those who don't listen, let's pray for them.
Jesus didn't stay in the same place for the duration of His ministry, He moved on from place to place. As Christians, we have to discern whether God is calling us to a new place, we can't expect to stay in the same place all of our lives.
Peter and John went to the temple to pray at three o'clock in the afternoon, which was a traditional time for them to go to prayer. Having a set time each day to pray to God is a good idea for time set aside with God.
The writer of Hebrews tells us to hold unswervingly to the hope that we hope because God's promises are faithful. We must absolutely believe in His promises for us to hold to the hope that we have unswervingly.
On the second time of asking Jonah obeyed God's call on his life to go to Nineveh to deliver a message, then he didn't like it the result. We need to learn from the story of Jonah and be obedient to God's call on our lives and trust Him.
People will separate themselves from God and their hearts will grow hard, which will also darken their understanding of who God is, but hard hearts can be made soft so don't give up on these people as lost!
When God called Samuel, he didn't recognised that it was God who was calling him. Eli understood that it was God who was calling Samuel in all the confusing and told him to that it was God who was calling him.
St Peter tells us that God's timing isn't our timing because with the Lord a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day. When we pray, we must remember God's timing and have patience and trust.
In Psalm 130, we witness a beautiful expression of dependence on God as the psalmist pours out his heart in prayer. Through faith and patient waiting, we learn that our hope must be anchored in God's promises rather than our own timing.
Jesus told the disciples that because the world hated Him, the world will also hate them as well. As Christians, we no longer belong to the world we belong to the Kingdom of God. Our job here and now is to preach the Gospel and win people for Jesus.
Psalm 139 is such a beautiful psalm written by King David about God's personal knowledge of us. Some people might find this intimidating but it actually shows God's love for us is so personal as a father should love their child.
God calls us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience towards our brothers and sisters in Christ. In this, we will show the world how to truly live in community.
