Energy Recovery (NASDAQ: ERII), a company that specializes in commercial and industrial fluid-flow markets, has announced contracts worth $15 million for supplying its PX Pressure Exchanger energy recovery devices to desalination plants in India.

These contracts, slated for shipment in 2024, will collectively contribute to producing more than 670,000 cubic meters of clean drinking water daily for Indian communities.

Given India's significant water scarcity, the country is actively investing in desalination projects to bolster its freshwater reserves. Despite being home to 18% of the global population, India only possesses 4% of the world's water resources.

Energy Recovery's PX technology plays a crucial role in enhancing the performance and energy efficiency of SWRO desalination systems by capturing otherwise wasted pressure energy, thereby reducing operational costs and carbon emissions.

With the potential to slash energy consumption by up to 60%, the installation of PX devices is estimated to prevent over 300,000 metric tons of carbon emissions annually from these projects.

Rodney Clemente, Energy Recovery Senior Vice President of Water stated: “We have been helping India incorporate desalination technologies since our first mega-project installation in 2007.”

With a strong foundation in the desalination industry, Energy Recovery has delivered transformative solutions that increase operational efficiency and deliver positive environmental impact worldwide.
