In this episode, you will listen to Tanisha, a psychologist, afro-feminist activist, and researcher on organizational diversity and inclusion strategies here in Costa Rica! She discusses the African diaspora history in Costa Rica and the challenges people faced generations ago and today. Also, what it's like to be the daughter of the current Vice-President of Costa Rica (the first Black vice-president elected in Costa Rica's history!)and her mom's influence. Tanisha also discusses what progress she hopes to see in the near future for Afro-descendants and why diversity and inclusion matter to all people. Hope you enjoy! Tanisha Swaby is a co-founder of the Black Lives Matter movement in Costa Rica and a member of the board of directors of the Afro-Costa Rican Women's Center, an NGO that has been dedicated to promoting the human rights of Afro-descendant people in Latin America for over 25 years. She has been a lecturer on anti-racism and intersectionality in multiple academic, institutional and political advocacy forums at the local and international levels, including the University of Costa Rica and Texas A&M University. She is also a seasoned conference producer, having developed international programs addressing talent management and inclusion best practices.
