THE ACOUSTIC CAFÉ is a fortnightly program featuring a mix of singer – songwriter, Celtic, Cajun, global roots, traditional and contemporary folk, blues, country blues, bluegrass, country, old timey and Americana music from Australia and around the world.
In this edition of The Acoustic Café we feature 10 tracks from the new double CD released last month celebrating 40 years of Mountain Stage (a two hour music show on National Public Radio in the USA). There’s music recorded live from Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Tyler Childers, , Indigo Girls, Kathy Mattea, John Prine, Steve Earl, Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn, Sierra Ferrell, Tim O'Brien, Rhiannon Giddens.
Following that, there’s a live concert recording of Fairport Convention, recorded in 1974 in Ebberts Field, Denver, Colorado.
The show finishes with music from The Memphis Jug Band, blues harmonica legend Walter Horton, Josh Okeefe, Rain of Animals, a Kieren Welch bluegrass song performed by Laurie Lewis, Claire Lynch, Lynn Morris & Rhonda Vincent, and then music from Stan Rogers, Carsie Blanton, Todd Snider.
