What is the Responsible Car Wash Scheme?
Manage episode 303333308 series 2915109
The number of hand car washes in the UK has increased dramatically over the last 15 years. As many as 7,000 hand car washes have popped up across the country and while many follow all the rules and regulations, the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) and other law enforcement agencies have uncovered issues ranging from labour exploitation to non-payment of the National Minimum Wage and health and safety breaches.
In this episode, journalist Andreea Salvage is joined by Teresa Sayers, Managing Director of the Responsible Car Wash Scheme (RCWS). The RCWS was founded in 2018 as a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting compliance and raising standards across the car wash industry.
Teresa explains the aims and benefits of the scheme, and how car wash owners can apply to become members.
