Welcome to Living Well Together with Dr. Terry and Lisa! In this episode, we're excited to introduce you to Stephanie Llacuna, an extraordinary individual whose journey has taken her from the world of classical music to leading one of Ohio’s most cherished non-profits, the Therapeutic Riding Institute (TRI).
Born and raised in the Dayton area, Stephanie's story is a testament to the power of following one's passions. She began her career as an orchestral harpist, and her classical background led her into the non-profit sector, where she has thrived ever since. After raising over $7 million for Dayton Children's Hospital Foundation, Stephanie discovered a deep-rooted passion for holistic health and wellness. This led her to create Pure Harmony Toxin-Free Beauty and Lifestyle, advocating for safe cosmetics and household products.
But it was Stephanie’s love for horses and the equestrian world that set her on her current path. Her position at TRI marries her skills as a fundraiser and leader with her passion for horses, children, and positively impacting the health and wellness of her community. Stephanie's journey shows how embracing one’s passions can lead to unforeseen opportunities.
In this episode, Stephanie takes us on a ride through the benefits of equine-assisted services. We'll learn what sets TRI apart from traditional riding centers, how horses can be used for mental health counseling, and how TRI's programs benefit veterans in the long term. Additionally, we'll explore how TRI is making its services more accessible to at-risk youth, all while cultivating a thriving community in small-town Ohio.
So saddle up and join us for a heartwarming journey that showcases how following your passions can lead to paths that combine talents, dreams, and positive community impact in ways you never imagined!
