From the BG Ad Group Studio this is your news minute on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast presented by Credit Union of Georgia. Today is Monday, July 8th, and I'm Keith Ippolito.

The Cobb County Board of Education is holding a special meeting this Tuesday to discuss the tax digest and fund balance. This is ahead of next week's crucial vote on the millage rate.

Board Chairman Randy Scamihorn mentioned that Chief Financial Officer Brad Johnson will present, with additional insights from Superintendent Chris Ragsdale. The aim is to clarify the district's financial standing before the July 18 vote.

Board member Becky Sayler added that they want all relevant information before the upcoming millage hearings. The board has tentatively adopted an 18.7 millage rate, unchanged from last year. However, due to rising property values, tax collections could increase by 8.73%.

Three public hearings on the millage rate will be held on July 11 at 11:30 a.m. and 6:05 p.m., and on July 18 at 6:30 p.m., all at the district headquarters on Glover Street in Marietta. The final vote will take place on July 18 at 7 p.m.
