In this limited run series, I will be exploring the pioneers that have shaped and influenced the EDM we have today. In this episode I will be featuring “Joey Beltram”. “Joey Beltram” started DJ-ing at the young age of 13 in Queens, New York. In 1990, Joey had his breakthrough hit “Energy Flash”; which became a classic. Take a listen to it here. Joey used the Roland TB-303 bass synthesizer to craft the unique, spacey overtones of “Energy Flash”. This was innovative at the time. In addition to this, "Energy Flash" release, had a profound effect on the EDM techno scene. During this time, European techno had a firm grip on the genre but with the release of "Energy Flash", a bridge between American and European techno was created. “Joey Beltram” became a highly influential figure in EDM and with his release of “Energy Flash” he helped shape the direction of what techno is today.
