Johann Wolfgang von Goethe plays a similar role for German-speaking cultures as Shakespeare does for English-speaking cultures. He was already a towering intellectual figure in his own lifetime and is still considered by many to be the pre-eminent German-language poet. Goethe dominated or even shaped every literary genre for generations after him. In addition to his poetry, he was active as a botanist and zoologist and developed a phenomenological theory of color in competition with Newton's theories.
In the podcast, Michael Hampe talks to Willi Goetschel about Goethe's work as a source of wisdom literature. Goethe is also presented and examined as the master of his life.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe spielt für die deutschsprachigen Kulturen eine ähnliche Rolle wie Shakespeare für die englischen. Er war schon zu Lebzeiten eine intellektuelle Grösse und ist bis heute in den Augen vieler der alles überragende deutschsprachige Dichter. Goethe hat jedes literarische Genre beherrscht oder gar geprägt für Generationen nach ihm. Neben seinen Dichtungen war er als Botaniker und Zoologe tätig und entwickelte eine phänomenologische Farbenlehre in Konkurrenz zu Newtons Theorien.
Im Podcast spricht Michael Hampe mit Willi Goetschel über Goethes Werk als Fundus der Weisheitsliteratur. Daneben wird Goethe auch als Meister seines Lebens vorgestellt und untersucht.
