The War and Treaty’s Michael and Tanya Trotter grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington, DC, respectively, but both have family roots in the South. They also grew up in the musical traditions of their churches – Tanya in the Black Baptist Church and Michael in the Seventh Day Adventist Church – where they learned the power of song to move people. After becoming a father at a very young age, Michael eventually joined the armed forces and served in Iraq and Germany, where he took up songwriting as a way of dealing with his experiences there. Meanwhile Tanya embarked on a singing and acting career after a breakthrough appearance in Sister Act 2 alongside Whoopi Goldberg and Lauryn Hill. Now, after a long and sometimes traumatic journey, Michael and Tanya are married, touring, winning all sorts of awards, and set to release their fifth album together, and their fourth as The War and Treaty. Sid talks to Michael and Tanya about the new record, Plus One , as well as their collaboration with Miranda Lambert, what it was like to record at FAME studios in Muscle Shoals, and how they’re blending country, soul, gospel, and R&B. Every week Carl and Alex talk about one of their favourite, hated, or just an interesting film. It's like a book club, except movies!

Every week Carl and Alex talk about one of their favourite, hated, or just an interesting film. It's like a book club, except movies!
This week we talk all about chocolate cake, the most weaponised olympic sports, and yeeting a child over the fence. Opening theme: "Fanfare for Space" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/
In our Noir-Vember finale we step away from hard boiled detective thrillers and dive into the high action super-assassin neo-noir, John Wick. Opening theme: "Fanfare for Space" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/
As corruption grows in 2010s podcasts, two hosts -- one strait-laced, one with his shoes untied, both dumbasses -- talk smack about movies. Opening theme: "Fanfare for Space" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/
Carl and Alex start off a noir-filled November with one of the early film noirs, The Maltese Falcon. It's the stuff that dreams are made of: Lead and black enamel. This week Carl and Alex talk about a classic horror film, with a monster that's only slightly less relatable than they are! Opening theme: "Fanfare for Space" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/
You and your friends get together for a role-playing game. You're all super heroes. One of the players rolls up his Superman knock off. He's new to the game, but wiling to give it a go. It's going fine, until the GM asks: "Why are you trying to kill your uncle?" He responds "It's what my character would do..." It's a film with Aussie accents, big guns, demon hunting, and a donkey trying to have sex with a phone box. What else could you want? Opening theme: "Fanfare for Space" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/
Sons, lock up your fathers! Because you probably don't want the awkward experience of watching this film with them. We'll warn you now, it's pretty 'Fuch'ed up. It's a massacre! And nobody's getting out alive! Except for the guard. And Michelle. But let's be honest, she's going back in for another 10 years right after this. Also all the sharks made it out okay, so maybe this really does have an environmental message. When surfers killed his parents, Bruce swore that he would stop at nothing to eat every single one. And nothing, not shallow water, not jellyfish, not even being quite literally set on fire is going to stop him... Except his blind rage and some rusty metal. That would probably do it. It's like the Muppets, without the wholesome family fun, or the charm, or the part where its good. This week Carl and Alex recoil in disgust for 40 minutes at the mention of "Cows Gone Sour 2: Even Milkier", as they talk about the puppet racism of The Happytime Murders! Opening theme: "Fanfare for Space" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/…
This week the stars align, as Carl and Alex celebrate 50 episodes of Mics Camera Action and 50 years since the Moon landing! Opening theme: "Fanfare for Space" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

Attention ladies and gentlemen, this is your captains, Carl and Alex. The time of Airplane!/Flying High is approximately 90 minutes. Please have your tray tables and seats in their upright positions, assume the brace position, and kiss your loved ones goodbye, as this landing is going to a be rough one.
