Bob Johnson, auctioneer for the Governor's Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction says they'll sell about 30 animals on Aug. 7, including a first-ever Grand Champion Meat Goat. A portion of the money goes to the exhibitor, educational programs at State Fair, and about $40,000 in scholarships.

Wisconsin Fairest of the Fairs Kelsey Henderson recommends immersing yourself in all the elements of the fair, including the rides, food, concerts, and livestock barns.

Ann Schulz with the Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Promotion Board says this year, the grilled cheese stand features blue ribbon cheeses that will be a part of the Blue Ribbon Dairy Products Auction on Aug. 8.

This year's Sporkie winner is the Deep-Fried Lemonade Bites from Saz's BBQ -- about as sticky as today's forecast. Ag meteorologist Stu Muck has the details.

The rain this growing season has been problematic for many producers, but Chris and Jenny Reichert of Reichert Land and Cattle in Sheboygan Falls have discovered that their conservation practices have kept heavy rains from eroding the land. They've been awarded the Wisconsin Cattlemen's Association Environmental Stewardship Award.

Ever.Ag dairy broker and feed advisor Jenny Wackershauser says low feed costs are price supportive to dairy until milk production increases, putting a ceiling on that growth. She says the dairy prices toward year-end are favorable, thanks to the start of fall domestic demand, such as back-to-school, among other trends.
