“A God Who Repents and Grieves”
Pastor Hiroyuki Anjiki
1. A world infested with evil
* Genesis 6:5 “The LORD saw” =
(1) “how great the wickedness of the human race had become”
“evil” = violence, harm
(2) “every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart”
“heart” = feelings, “thoughts” = intelligence, “inclination” = intent
(3) “was only evil all the time”
“all” = every day (indicating continuation)
2. The cause of the fallen world
* Genesis 6:2 “sons of God” = Beneha Elohim in Hebrew = men created by God
“daughters of humans” = Elubenot Hadam = women created by God
* Genesis 6:4 “Nephilim” = Those ruling over people by violence, oppressors of the weak
3. God’s intervention
* Genesis 6:6 “regretted” = exhale, sigh
* Ezekiel 33:11 “Say to them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, people of Israel?’” (NIV)
Thoughts to share at mini church:
1. What did the Lord God think when he looked at the world in Noah’s era?
2. What was the cause of the fall of the world?
3. What do you think God wants sinners to do?
