'Involution' and 'vicious competition' have been cited by the Chinese Government for the first time as threat to the country's high tech and new energy export sectors. What does this mean? And why should we care?
Timothy Pope has been a journalist for more than 15 years, and has spent the last decade in China's financial capital, Shanghai. In that time he's been a business reporter and anchor for International Channel Shanghai (ICS) and is now Financal Correspondent for SMG International and CGTN.
During that time he's covered the major stories which have shaped the Chinese economy and business landscape. He's interviewed local and global business leaders, regulators, officials and analysts to try and explain how these complex issues affect us all.
Tim has interests beyond the stock markets and the latest GDP data. He's an avid walker, hiker, sportsman and video gamer, and a keen reader of history and science fiction.
