Barry first found music when he borrowed his sister's record collection when he was about eight and was hooked. When Caroline started it was a new beginning, and he listened to all the stations, but Caroline was his favourite by far. Later he became a singer in a band, then started doing discos when he was 18. 1984 was an incredible year for music, and it was a particularly strong year for hard rock and metal. We're joined by guests Courtland Lewis and Matt Alschbach of the Rock and Metal Profs Podcast for a great discussion of what factors made 1984 such a highwater mark for the genre, and we review some of our favorite releases of the year. We spotlight albums by Van Halen, KISS, Dio, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Queenryche, Ratt, Metallica, Dokken, Scorpions, plus a whole lot more. And of course no discussion of the metal releases of 1984 would be complete without a mention of the soundtrack to the classic film This is Spinal Tap!
