Hey there, beachgoers! Ready to ride some waves or soak up the sun? Let's dive into the surf forecast for the beautiful New York area.
Starting with Kings (Brooklyn) - today, we're looking at a low rip current risk, with surf heights around 2 feet. The UV index** is high, so make sure to slap on that sunscreen and enjoy the upper 60s surf temperature. Expect mostly cloudy skies with a chance of scattered showers or isolated thunderstorms. Highs will be in the lower 70s, with north winds at 10 to 15 miles per hour. And don't forget those tides - low at 7:52 AM and high at 2:14 PM.
Moving on to Southern Queens - you're in for surf heights of 2 to 3 feet today, with the same low rip current risk and high UV index**. Keep an eye out for mostly cloudy weather and highs around 70. North winds at 10 to 15 mph. Tides to note at East Rockaway Inlet - low at 7:51 AM and high at 2:16 PM.
And last but not least, for Southeastern Suffolk - there's a moderate rip current risk today, with surf heights of 3 to 4 feet. The surf temperature is in the upper 50s, so it might be a bit chilly! Expect mostly cloudy skies with showers likely and highs in the mid 60s. Northwest winds at 10 to 15 mph, and tides at Shinnecock Inlet - low at 7:10 AM and high at 2:06 PM.
Remember, always swim near a lifeguard and have a flotation device handy. And if caught in a rip current, don't panic - relax and float. Stick together, and keep an eye on each other out there.
