Hey there beachgoers, welcome to your surf forecast for the New York area brought to you by the National Weather Service. Let's dive right in!
Starting off with the Kings area, including Coney Island Beach and Manhattan Beach, Sunday looks pretty sweet with low rip current risk, surf around 2 feet, and a high UV index. Perfect summer vibes with temperatures in the mid 70s. And hey, keep an eye on those tides!
Moving over to Southern Queens, Jacob Riis Park and Rockaway Beach are calling your name with similar conditions, so get ready to catch some waves around 2 feet high and enjoy the lower 60s water temperature. Don't forget your sunscreen with that high UV index!
Now, for all you surfers hitting up Southern Nassau at Atlantic Beach, Long Beach, and more, expect a bit cooler water in the upper 50s with a low rip current risk. Make sure to stay safe and swim near a lifeguard, especially with those Southwest winds around 10 mph.
And for those shredding the waves at Southwestern Suffolk, from Gilgo State Park to Robert Moses State Park, the surf will be around 2 feet high, with a high UV index ensuring that beach day glow. Keep an eye on those tides and enjoy the upper 60s temperatures.
Last but not least, Southeastern Suffolk surfers at Smith Point and Cupsogue Beach, you're in for a treat too with sunny skies and the surf around 1 foot high on Sunday. Don't let the smaller waves fool you; it's still a great day to catch some rays.
No matter where you surf, always keep an eye on rip currents and beach safety. And most importantly, have fun out there in the waves!
