Roger Heath has the Jersey & Illawarra Stud, Wanstead and a real passion for cows. In this week's epsiode of the podcast he shares his passion for genetics, how he uses embryo transfers and IVF to speed up the improvement & genetics of his herd and shares his experience with classifying cows, what goes into scoring a cow and shares the highest peak so far with one of his cows just going 95 points.
Roger’s passion continue into the showing arena, supporting his many local shows as well as Dairy Week annually, and he lets us know how he prepares his show team for the move from South West Victoria to Northern Victoria in the middle of Summer.
He also openly shares his experience with succession, how he purchased the farm, how the impacts of the milk price crash were felt in the short time after, as well as the current plans for the farm to continue onto a 5th generation.

Recognising the contribution, regardless of their role, they make to the industry and their wider community. Although the 2023 conference is over, planning is underway for the 2024 event and it's going to be wonderful.
