What I've Learned About the Motherload in 50 Episodes
Manage episode 360286269 series 3375673
Today I am celebrating the MotherLoad Podcast’s 50th episode! To produce a consistent, high-quality podcast is HARD.
I’ve come to learn that it’s rare people get this far and are as consistent as I’ve been with a podcast. I want to celebrate this milestone by reviewing what I’ve learned – about podcasting, the motherload, and myself – since launching seven months ago.
Do you love your life right now? Ultimately that’s the core question I’m trying to get at with MotherLoad: to help mothers love their lives. The way I’m doing it is by being real and honest, which, I’ve learned, is what people want.
I love this podcast, this medium, speaking into this microphone, and the feedback I get from listeners. I feel so called to do this work, and more excited about this mission than I’ve ever been. Thank you for being here.
In this episode you’ll hear about:
- The system I use to manage the podcast and how I’ve made it as easy and automated as possible so that I continue to love doing it
- Things I’ve learned about podcasting (the benefits of a good editor, that not EVERYONE has a great podcast interview, the power of boldness)
- How metrics matter – but ultimately, only to the extent that you’re passionate about what you’re doing
- The myth that the motherload is mostly task-based – there are also more potent feelings at work regarding grief, safety, and freedom
- How common it is that mothers suffer in communicating with their partners, and how so many women hold on to their motherloads on purpose
- My thoughts on excellence (trying your hardest, being bold, taking risks) vs. perfection (safe, boring, doing things the way other people are doing it)
