Owen Marcus is an entrepreneur and co-founder of Evryman, an organisation that helps men live successful and fulfilling lives, through greater emotional awareness. After going through a difficult period in his life, where he experienced burnout, triggered by the betrayal of a business partner, Owen turned to other men to see how they experienced similar struggles. He felt safer, but didn’t have a group to discuss openly with. So he created one. The first men’s group, which ultimately evolved into Evryman, dedicated to supporting men’s emotional and mental health was established 17 years ago.

Specific topics covered in this episode include:

  • Burnout, identity and betrayal;
  • How men supporting men is can be transformative & destigmatise men’s vulnerability;
  • The support systems and tools that Owen relies on for his wellbeing;

In addition, we discuss the following questions:

  • Is entrepreneurship a calling?
  • How do we show up authentically, when as men we are not taught to be emotional?
  • How do we create a space for vulnerability in business?
