Directed by Frank Darabont and released in 1994. We are introduced to Andy Dufresne who is serving two consecutive life sentences for murders he did not commit. Through all the awful things that prison has to offer; Andy's unwavering hope pulls him through and shows other the no bars in Shawshank will ever keep his spirit in shackles. His infectious demeanor shines light in a dark place of cold walls and bars. This film which has been recognized by the US Library of Congress for preservation in the National Film registry is a true testament that even a mustard seed of hope can break through any barriers.
