The 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix kickstarted Formula 1’s longest FIA sanctioned World Championship season of 24 races, the first bagged by Max Verstappen in style.

The superlatives have run out for the Red Bull #1 driver as he delivered another Max-Masterclass at Sakhir all weekend. He put it on pole on Friday and then powered to a comfortable victory, 20 plus seconds ahead of teammate Sergio Perez for the team’s 29th one-two finish in the top flight.

Carlos Sainz was voted Bahrain GP Driver of the Day, twice overtaking his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc who had to settle for P4.

In this edition of NewsDesk Unplugged, GRANDPRIX247 editorial duo Paul Velasco and Jad Mallak review the #BahrainGP, discussing a bunch of hot topics spawned during the opening weekend, including:

  • Red Bull domination;
  • Sainz revenge ;
  • Mercedes fooled themselves;
  • Aston Martin flattered only to deceive;
  • F1 pecking order;
  • Yuki Tsunoda vs Daniel Ricciardo;
  • Alpine’s disappearing act;

And the elephant in the Bahrain F1 paddock:

  • The Christian Horner Story;
  • What’s Jos Verstappen doing in the Red Bull pit garage?

Have a listen/watch and let us know your thoughts on one or all of the above thoughts and observations. Don’t shoot the messenger!
