This week on NL Hafta, Newslaundry’s Abhinandan Sekhri, Raman Kirpal, Jayashree Arunachalam and Anand Vardhan are joined by author and journalist Nisha Susan.

The conversation starts with a brief discussion on Nisha’s new book, which is a collection of short stories about relationships in post-internet India. The panel then moves on to discuss cases of sex crimes. Jayashree recollects the sexual assault case against Malayali actor Dileep, and the acquittal of bishop Franco Mulakkal who was accused of raping nuns. In light of these cases, Nisha explains how Dileep’s case is of “rape by supari”. “Rape the person and film it for revenge.”

“I hope these nuns get some sort of justice with these letters, because otherwise it would be really hard to live in this world,” Nisha says.

They talk about the railway exams and the protests by students while highlighting the lack of adequate media coverage in the issue. They also discuss the Uttar Pradesh poll campaign and the BJP’s bid to polarise.

This and a lot more, only on NL Hafta.
