DISCLAIMER: Obviously, things globally have changed dramatically in only a short amount of time for everyone, ourselves included in the podcasting world as well as within our own respective homes. While “the show” must go on, that doesn’t mean that there may not be some shuffling and adjustments made along the way to ensure that “the show” is up to snuff and to the NHP standard. Here’s a little backstory on this: The original plan Hitchhikers was to release this episode, EP. 34 (which we recorded in mid-February), on March 3rd, with EPs. 35 & 36 following biweekly. The Lord actually proposed the idea of reviewing John Carpenter’s Apocalypse Trilogy to The King & I way back in November shortly after we wrapped up October’s Halloween franchise review...and of course, we all loved this. Somehow, we just knew in November of last year that March 2020 was THE month to release this theme. But the winds of change blew in larger than life fashion, so we decided to delay releasing the trilogy until April...but, we even called an audible on that plan last second and decided to release EP. 34 early since it’s ready to go and we’re all bored out of our minds being stuck in our homes all day. So now the big joke for the three of us is: “We canceled our apocalypse theme for the month of March. The world, however...did not.” Hitchhikers, we are pleased to finally present to you: John Carpenter’s Apocalypse Trilogy. Join NHP as we practice social distancing by trekking all the way down to Antarctica to Outpost 31 to try to figure out some of this voodoo bull$#!+ that’s going on!!! As usual, in addition to our in-depth movie discussions, we also ask, “What are some of our favorite snowed in movies to watch at home during the wintertime?” The irony gets crazy real with foreshadowing our current world situation with talks of shutting ourselves off from others and being quarantined. Who knew?! The King kinda hates on Alien (1979) & Predator (1987), while The Lord & I take some ultra-mega deep cuts on possible fan theories regarding the movie...& of course, no movie review that stars Wilford Brimley wouldn’t be complete without some impromptu “diabeetus” impressions. We also left in some HorrorHound Weekend talk for further proof this whole idea wasn’t all an afterthought. All this and more awaits you in EP. 34 - The Thing (1982)!!!
