We can all agree that the conscious parenting journey is hard work! You have to come correct to stay the course. Information is power! I’m always looking for support from individuals of like minds because there is always something new to learn! We must have a systematic approach to decolonizing parenting. Today my guest shares his personal experience and shows us that incarnation is preventable.
There is a system that conditions behavioral patterns that are associated with criminal activity.
The system is designed to imprison black and brown people in their minds first until they literally find themselves behind bars. This creates a feedback loop, labeling criminals eternally and seeing them as a liability to society.
We all know the facts, the system hits the black community the hardest!...it is part of the antiblackness agenda!
Cozine Welch is a formerly incarcerated poet and educator. He is the Executive Director of the Washtenaw County, Michigan nonprofit A Brighter Way which focuses on providing mentorship and wraparound services to those returning home from incarceration. As an instructor Cozine currently teaches both the Atonement Project and the Theatre & Incarceration courses at the University of Michigan, classes that focus on restorative justice, reconciliation, atonement, and the role the arts play in healing and rehabilitation.
