Liberalism happened as a result of the Jewish enlightenment. Espinosa created Pantheism with a form of Deism. John Locke took this idea from Netherlands and made a political model called Liberalism. This Liberalism is in fact a revival of the Sadducee Judaism of the ancient times.
The founding fathers of America adopted the ideas of John Locke, they were Deists who rejected mainstream (Pharisee) Christianity and applied Liberalism as political model for the USA.
