Scripture: 2 Kings 22:1-2, 8-10, 11, 18-20 2 Kings 23:3, 4, 21-22, 25 Deuteronomy 17:18-20
Notes: This morning we’ll be looking at the life of a young man named Josiah who became king at 8 years old. He was born into a broken mess of a culture, God’s people had wandered far from their faith. On a routine trip to the temple, Josiah’s secretary Shannan is presented with a lost book of God’s Law. When confronted with its contents, Josiah recognizes the significance of the people’s sin and his own choices. He considers how far the people have drifted from their calling as a light to the world. He chooses to humble himself before God and create reminders which redirect the people’s hearts to the One True King. Visible reminders can protect us from drifting. What reminders do you need to create in order to redirect your heart and eyes to Jesus? What would it take for you to change in order to have legacy like Josiah’s? What would it look like for you to put your name in this commendation? 2 Kings 23:25 “Neither before nor after ________________ was there a Christian like them who turned to the Lord as they did-with all their heart and with all their soul and with all their strength.”
