The recent spate of ASR concrete cancer cases sprouting up in the media has caused thousands of swimming pools to become virtually unusable. Basecrete, a popular waterproofing product used by swimming pool contractors can be used to reduce alkali-silica reactivity (ASR), a condition that can cause concrete to crack. In this episode, we speak with Vito Mariano, President of Basecrete to get some more information about what’s happening on the ASR front, and how his firm is working with the industry during this difficult time. We also discuss Basecrete Xtreme, a new product designed for ASR repairs that is being brought to the U.S. and will now be part of Basecrete's product line.
