Matthew Fairfax is president/CEO of James Alan Salon & Spa in Seattle Washington. Just a few years ago, Matthew and his colleague Lauren Ebright were on a salon retreat with each other. The two of them discovered their shared passion and desire to make a difference. Before they ever even communicated it to each other, they were individually introduced to the horrors of sex trafficking and the impact on young women, young men, and children around the world. With the support of their teammates, Justice and Soul Foundation was born. Justice and Soul empowers trafficked and at-risk young women and young men to become confident and self sufficient individuals through professional training in cosmetology. In 2013, Matthew sold all of his belongings and moved to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and this is where his dream and vision for a beauty salon and academy became real. It is here that Matthew works to help these young victims find a way to earn a living as beauty professionals. In this podcast, Matthew talks about his story and how his salon continues to thrive in Seattle while he runs the salon and academy in Cambodia.
