Grief Girl! SUPER HERO & AMAZING HUMAN BEING
Manage episode 331604432 series 3361924
Meet my friend D, she has taught me so much about grief, just by having this open conversation about her personal pain. D, like me, is resistant to the idea that "mindfulness" is the cure all. Instead we have let our grief guide us towards surrendering and being powerless to it, and riding the waves that are all a part of integration. Spoiler Alert: It doesn't go away. Over time it changes shape, or blends in better, but in truth Grief is a part of our lives, the very fabric of our stories, and how we grow through it is to be witnessed, to be held, to be heard. D's story is heartbreaking, she is a grieving mother and I think she is brave to share her pain so others can learn from it. We are too often quick to avoid or push aside these uncomfortable feelings, YUCK (Haha) but they're not going anywhere folks. In fact it only adds to that feeling of isolation and loneliness when we try to bury our grief. This conversation is really important because the truth is we still have so much farther to go, in understanding grief, the varieties and the nuances. And in order to evolve into more enlightened beings, we must do our own investigating, how we can role model for children, and how we can learn to be helpful instead of harmful when we want to comfort someone.
If you would like to get in touch with D please find her on Instagram as Adventuresofgriefgirl or listen to her podcast Grief After Dark, and tell her Moon says hi!
