What I want to discuss with you today is AI: how did we get here, and what is needed to arrive at the inevitable world where artificial intelligence is omnipresent. And it will come, whether we want it or not.

It all started with so-called transistors. These were the first analog computing and controlling devices that were used in radios in the early years of the last century. These showed that humans might not be the only ones capable of making calculations. Eventually, transistors reached their limit. The first computers based on them were extremely large, heavy, and expensive. And then the computer chip was invented. These chips were much smaller, faster, and more powerful, and made it possible for us to have truly handheld computers. I remember my father telling me that he could use a transistor computer for a quarter of an hour a week at university. He had to sign up for this specifically, and the thing was as big as a classroom.

I invite you to listen to my podcast regularly. We will discuss fascinating technologies and inventions. We will talk about the problems and opportunities. We will ponder what the world could look like. I promise you it will be an exciting, fun, and optimistic journey. A journey full of robots, artificial intelligence, self-driving cars, and sustainable energy. A journey full of questions and answers. A journey full of wonder and astonishment. But also, a journey with a lot of recognition. I am going to create these episodes with great pleasure and I look forward to hearing your reactions.
