I recently did a role play with a student who was talking to a seller and wanted some pointers. The property currently has tenants, and the seller wants to evict them. He’s adamant about getting a certain price for the property and so we practiced going back and forth to negotiate and see if we could get an offer together.

In this example, you’ll see me play the role of the reluctant buyer, which is what you also want to do. You never want to chase a seller and it’s important to ask as many questions of them as possible. Don’t act like a desperate, motivated buyer. Your job is to ask questions and get them to come up with the number first.
