Today we are joined by artist Peter Drew. Peter was born in Adelaide in 1983. His artworks have been exhibited at the Art Gallery of South Australia and the National Gallery of Australia, though his most prominent work is installed on city streets. You can find Peter at peterdrewarts.com Peter has achieved notoriety for his street art across Australia and beyond including, conversation starting posters 'Real Australians Say Welcome' and 'Aussie.' Peter has recently launched his book 'Poster Boy' to much acclaim. You can also listen to more from Peter and wife Julie White on their podcast Married to the Maker, and follow Peter's adventures on his popular Facebook page 'Peter Drew Arts'. We discuss Peter's childhood and the Kamikaze Run Squad, getting into uni to study commerce then quickly finding himself, art and street art at night and heading in a different life direction. We discuss the critical role of Art, street art and otherwise, why it is important to have hard conversations, something Australians may not always be great at. And, the importance of being constructively rebellious. Real People is a podcast hosted by Jason Dunstone, the founder and managing director of Square Holes. Subscribe to Real People on your favourite podcast player. Jason builds on his 25 years of conducting human-centred research, interviewing average and not so average people (rich, poor, old, young, content and vulnerable) to understand what they believe and how they behave.
