Have you ever considered the importance of being intentional in leadership? In this recap episode, Kristin recounts her conversation with Nicole Thomas, the highest-ranking African American woman at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville and one of Kristin’s personal heroes. Nicole is a remarkable woman who leads thousands of people in the hospital yet makes time for intentional interactions and sacrificial service. As the hospital president, Nicole has tremendous responsibility, yet demonstrates servant leadership's effectiveness and impact through her deliberate availability and leadership mentality. As Kristin recalls the most emotional and vulnerable moments of her conversation with Nicole, a heart-wrenching story of Nicole's family tragedy unfolds. In 2009, Nicole’s baby brother went missing and was later found murdered. Despite Nicole's grief, she lived with a strong vision of her purpose, making every moment matter. She notes about her brother’s death, “Telling his story helps people know that you can go through hard things and still have love, joy and it has inspired me to go hard after making moments.” Her remarkable achievement and wisdom in the face of unimaginable pain are a testament to her outstanding character, amazing perspective, and powerful intentionality.
