BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS - Norman Roy Garza, Jr., executive director of the newly formed Texas Space Commission, is in great demand in South Texas.
On Aug. 27, Garza was a panelist at a luncheon hosted by the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce. Held at the Brownsville Events Center, the event was titled “Bridging Borders & Beyond - The Impact of US-Mexico Relations and Space Exploration in the Rio Grande Valley.”
On Sept. 19, Garza will give the keynote address at the 31st Annual Pathways for Trade summit hosted by Laredo Economic Development Corporation. The event takes place at the Laredo Country Club.
And on September 24, Garza will give the keynote address at a State of Education and Industry summit hosted by RGV LEAD (Linking Economic and Academic Development). It will take place at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg.
Born in Harlingen, Norman is an eighth-generation Texan with roots across the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas. Reared in Pleasanton, his family maintains a Beef Master Cattle operation near Verdi in Atascosa County.
In his remarks at the Bridging Borders & Beyond event, Garza spoke about the interaction between the Texas Space Commission and Texas Aerospace Research and Space Economy Consortium, both of which were launched by Gov. Greg Abbott last April. He also spoke about the ways higher education institutions in Texas can work with the commission.
