On the 112th episode of the Seattle Foodie Podcast, we're sitting down with Felipe Hernandez, owner of Los Hernandez Tamales in Union Gap, WA and winner of the 2018 James Beard Award for America's Classics. Los Hernandez Tamales has been in business for over 30 years making tamales and it's a destination for those in Western Washington who make it out to Eastern Washington. Listen in as Felipe Hernandez tells us how Los Hernandez Tamales originated and how they learned of their James Beard recognition.

In addition, Monica and Nelson tell you about two upcoming Pop-Ups hosted by some of your favorite foodies. Make sure you pre-order your Tres Leches Cakes before noon on November 3rd to get your @feedthepudge X @tres_lecheria Cakes for pickup this Sunday. On Saturday, be sure to stop by Cafe Opla for the 2nd Papi Chino Pop-Up hosted by @chinoychinaeats.

As for what they ate this week, Nelson went to Kirkland to grab takeout from Tokyo Stop and Shake Shack, sampled dipped cookies from Dipped Elegance, had lunch at Tamari Bar, checkout Lil' Woody's for their Fast Food Month, grabbed sandwiches from Sip & Smile, had beers and burgers at Perihelion Brewery and stopped by the Despi Delite Bakery.

Meanwhile, Monica did a lot of home cooking using Franz Bakery Bread, Mom's Micro Garden Greens, and Ellenos Greek Yogurt and created a charcuterie board using Coro Salami, Beecher's Cheese, and Milton's Cheese Crackers. She also picked up food from Kiriba Sushi, Pho Tic Tac, Little Ting's Dumplings, T'Juana Tacos, and Piroshky PIroshky, and reviews Bell's Pastries Monthly Macaron Halloween set.

Thank you so much for listening and we hope you enjoy the latest episode of the Seattle Foodie Podcast!
