A personal digital twin (PDT) refers to a replicate of a person in digital form including biometrics, facial characteristics, personal preferences, health records, daily activities, favorite locations, travel records, and online shopping records, etc. In this podcast Jun. Prof. Fang-Jing Wu (TU Dortmund) explains to us what a PDT is and how PDTs are created. We discuss also the potential social impacts and positive benefits expected from this new technology. PDT is yet another new technology contributing to the production of our digital identity. Their development and use in several contexts of society, from our personal lives to international research projects, make it relevant for everyone to understand how they work in order to develop a critical view on their use.
