Greetings, Reds and Blues fans! We are back for yet another international break. This one feels a little different for USMNT fans, though. Let’s get into why that is and also how our respective clubs have fared as they go into the hiatus.

The Poch Era begins in earnest. He took over training just this week. He is saying all the right things, but the reality is that the USMNT underperformed for the past few years under GGG. And the timing of injuries isn’t going to make Poch’s job any easier in the short term. He can, however, call upon a Christian Pulisic who is in the form of his life, as well as a Weston McKennie who should have something to prove. We are less than 2 years away from WC26 in North America. Poch has set high expectations. He must now figure out a way to achieve them.

Chelsea enters the break sitting in 4th on goal differential. Their results may not be an accurate reflection of their performances at times, but their fans won’t care at the moment. Chelsea should expect to always be there or near the Top 4. Was their recent stumble against Forest a blip or a sign that much work is still to be done. They return from the break to immediately face top-of-the-table Liverpool at Anfield. That match is followed by an away trip to Greece in the Conference and then 2 matches with Newcastle. October could tell us a lot about Chelsea’s future.

United has struggled since the flattering 7-0 victory over Barnsley. 4 draws have bookended the embarrassing loss to Spurs at home. They will return from break to face Brentford before making trips to Fenerbahce and West Ham, and then returning home to see Leicester. These are favorable ties… on paper. 4 strong performances – and more importantly, wins – could see them get their season back on track. Otherwise, the patience of Ratcliffe and INEOS may get tested before Christmas.
