Opposing the proposed Bill C-21, we stand firm in advocating for the exemption of law-abiding firearms owners, air-softer, paintballers, sports shooters, International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) shooters, and hunters from the expansive bans embedded in this legislation. These communities are more than just hobbyists; they uphold profound traditions and values, serving as a living testament to historical codes of conduct such as the ancient Warrior Ethos, the medieval Code of Chivalry, and various global honour codes.
The Warrior Ethos, dating back to the Spartan era, encourages courage, honour, and endurance amidst adversity. Similarly, the Code of Chivalry, a fundamental principle during medieval times, extols virtues like bravery, courtesy, honour, loyalty, and gallantry. Honour codes from diverse cultures around the world highlight the significance of values such as truthfulness, integrity, empathy, and responsibility. These collective elements, reflected in the activities and conduct of these communities, add to the rich cultural tapestry of Canada, strengthening our societal resilience with a diversity of historical and philosophical influences.
However, the continuity of these communities and their significant societal contributions are threatened by the sweeping bans proposed in Bill C-21.
