To help people in the current NSW floods please donate to:

Lismore Council: https://lismore.nsw.gov.au/flood-2022-information

Local SES: https://www.ses.nsw.gov.au/get-involved/donations/ Pick a unit in a flood affected area, a list can be found under AGRN 1012 here: https://www.nsw.gov.au/disaster-recovery/natural-disaster-declarations

In light of the ongoing flooding on the east coast of Australia, we talk about how flood risk is analysed. What does it mean to have a 1 in 100 year flood? What does it mean for a location to have a 1 in 100 year flood risk? What is the probability of seeing two such events in 20 years?
