In this episode, we delve into the life of the iconic Toni Morrison, the Nobel and Pulitzer Prize-winning author whose words have inspired generations. Born Chloe Anthony Wofford in 1931 in Lorain, Ohio, Morrison grew up in a working-class family, surrounded by the rich oral traditions of African American culture. Her childhood was marked by a deep love of literature, which set the stage for her future career. After marrying and later divorcing Harold Morrison, she made a bold decision to change her name to Toni, a move that marked the beginning of her journey as a writer. Throughout her life, Morrison consistently honed her craft, creating works that redefined American literature and illuminated the complexities of the Black experience. Her ability to continuously improve and inspire a nation stands as a testament to her extraordinary talent and resilience.
In the second half, we'll travel to 1st Century Jerusalem to explore a short story that captures the trials and tribulations of making sacrifices to overcome obstacles
