It’s an auspicious day here in the Podfort as we are joined by the incredible and deeply wise Frankie Fyre for a truly special conversation we can’t stop thinking about. Using Frankie’s first full-length novel, The Honeymoon Mix-Up, as a jumping-off point, we dive deep into craft, talking about hearing your characters, being a planster, writing wounds and the healing journey/character growth, and writing sex that serves the plot. We also discuss the importance of writing diversely well and the life-saving importance of intersectional representation. We end our conversation talking about the songs that would open the movies of our lives, and Frankie gives the best answer of all time.

Books/Resources Mentioned:

Frankie Big 3 Books:

  1. French Kissing Series by Harper Bliss
  2. A Taste of Sin by Fiona Zedde
  3. Hedgehog Wisdom

Frankie’s Big 3 Albums:

  1. Age of Pleasure by Janelle Monáe
  2. Room for Squares by John Mayer
  3. Final Fantasy IX Soundtrack
