We are very quick to profile one another based on outward appearances and first impressions. It is a skill that can certainly save us some time and some hurts if we do it right. However, it can lead us into the illusion that the material, observable parts of life and people are the most important and substantial parts. But Jesus taught and proved that outside appearances can be deceiving; he himself wasn't much to look at in terms of kings and leaders, at first! (Isaiah 53:2) He tells us that, if we want to receive his blessing, we need to "be opened."
