Why Learning Should Align with Our Passions & Interests | The Importance of Avoiding the Career Trap Many of us find ourselves doing things we are very good at, but don't particularly like. This is what I personally like the consider the "misplaced duty" muscle. The muscle that some of us have developed, that enable us to pursue excellence in areas where we aren't particularly passionate, in order to please the people pressuring us to do so. Also, many of us focus on what society tells us are important ingredients to make ourselves happy, and end up selling out on our own inner knowing of what happiness would look like. Which is different for everyone one of us. Many find, often when they've pigeonholed themselves in a career that they realized they didn't like, that they discounted the effects on their sense of well-being to engage in work... that feels like work. Sometimes the best thing you can do is invest in understanding yourself, and understanding what are the key components of a career path, that enables you to make the career choices to align yourself in arenas (no matter the challenges those environments might present), where the work doesn't feel like you're working -- it's energizing because it's in alignment with what you want to do.
