Talking Artz | Episode: The Professor talks to JESSICA ANNE LEFFLEY – Painter

In this episode of Talking Artz, The Professor sits down with Jessica Anne Leffley, a talented painter from Lithgow and a proud Wiradjuri woman. Jessica is an artist, author, and teacher whose vivid drawings and paintings bring Australian native birds to life. Her work has been exhibited in various galleries, and her beloved bird paintings have found homes across Australia.

Jessica's connection to her art is deeply personal. She finds joy and comfort in the native birds she paints, such as Black Cockatoos, King Parrots, and Satin Bowerbirds. These birds are her friends, inspiring her as she gazes out of her studio window and listens to their songs. Through her art, Jessica explores her creativity and gains a deeper appreciation for the landscapes of her home.

The episode also highlights the exhibition "Weaving Ancestral Threads," running from July 5-21. This exhibition showcases a beautiful and diverse collection of works by Australian and First Nations artists, including Jessica Anne Leffley, Renee Gay Ford, Kaylene Brooks, Elly Jane Chatfield, Jo Albany, Nicola Mason, Peter Swain, Cheryl McCoy, and Nyree Reynolds.

Listeners are invited to the opening event on Saturday, July 6th, at 2pm, officiated by Gill Nicol, the former Director of Audience Engagement at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA). Special guest speaker Glenn Albrecht, a renowned philosopher, will also be in attendance.

Join us for an inspiring conversation with Jessica Anne Leffley as we delve into her artistic journey, the stories behind her enchanting bird paintings, and the upcoming "Weaving Ancestral Threads" exhibition.
