The action series CHiPs was a huge hit for NBC in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The show, which followed the adventures of two California Highway Patrol motorcycle officers, Jon Baker (Larry Wilcox) and Frank Poncherello (Erik Estrada), was famous for its car crashes, chases, and the sunny California scenery.
But creating all that action wasn’t easy. Filming often took seven days per episode, with workdays stretching to 80 hours! That kind of intense schedule requires a strong bond between co-stars, and Larry Wilcox recently shared some memories at a Terrificon 2024 panel of working alongside his fellow actors.
