Before his death in 2004, the last acting jobs Christopher Reeve had were a pair of guest-starring appearances on the TV series Smallville. Of course, there was plenty of meaning in those appearances, since the series was a retelling of the Superman story, and Reeve was the actor who famously resurrected the character for the big screen in the ’70s and ’80s. The significance of Reeve’s appearances was not lost on the star of Smallville, Tom Welling, known for his role as a young Clark Kent on Smallville, once shared a heartwarming story about receiving the blessing of Christopher Reeve, the original Superman, while attending a fan event a few years ago.
