John Kelly is synonymous with Irish arts broadcasting. Currently he presents the John Kelly Ensemble every weekday on Lyric FM, and has presented The View and The Works on RTE television.

Previously, he presented the ground-breaking Eclectic Ballroom on Radio Ireland/Today FM and Mystery Train on RTE Radio 1. As well as that he's a writer and his latest novel 'From Out Of The City' was published last year.

I chat to John about a shared football interest as well as music, writing, the changes in his career, opportunities he's turned down, the art of the interview, and how he feels as he turns 50. It's a great talk, and it was a pleasure to sit down with him.
